Cat Deeley faced unexpected criticism from viewers after her choice of outfit on Monday’s episode of This Morning. The 48-year-old presenter made her return to the ITV daytime show alongside co-host Ben Shephard following a week-long half-term break.

Last week, regular hosts were away and the show was fronted by familiar stand-ins including Craig Doyle, Alison Hammond, Rochelle Humes, and Paddy McGuinness. However, as Cat resumed her usual spot on the sofa, social media lit up with comments about her wardrobe.

Deeley appeared on-screen wearing a black halterneck top with a gold buckle paired with vibrant red trousers and gold accessories. While bold and summery, the ensemble quickly drew backlash from some viewers who deemed it inappropriate for a daytime broadcast, as per reports Daily Mail.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), one viewer questioned, “Has Cat come straight from a beach bar? …. bizarre choice of outfit.” Another wrote, “Cat looks like she’s been out lol,” while a third added, “Cat obviously still in her clothes from a night out.”

Criticism continued, with one user commenting, “Cat – you’re not having a day at the beach love. Dress like a professional at work.” Another viewer compared her to fellow ITV presenter Amanda Holden, tweeting, “She looks like she’s in competition with Amanda Holden..who can show the most flesh!”

Despite the wardrobe scrutiny, Cat and Ben appeared cheerful as they welcomed viewers back to the show. The duo shared details of their respective breaks, starting with Ben, who revealed he had a full house during the holiday.

“Very nice,” Ben said when asked about his time off. “Sam came back from university, Jack’s doing his A-Level revision. He’s got an exam this morning; if anyone is doing their drama A-Level this morning, good luck! In fact, he’ll be an hour in, so hopefully, he’s writing things! If not, we’ve got a problem.”

Cat responded light-heartedly, detailing her own family-filled week. “Lots of Legoland, camping out, slip and slide, went to the optician, all that stuff! All that stuff you gotta do, but we got it done, it was good,” she said.

Although some fans were unimpressed by her outfit, many others welcomed her back warmly and praised her energetic return. Fashion choices aside, Cat’s charm and chemistry with Ben continued to shine through the morning segment.
