Eamonn Holmes receives major support amid health struggles
Veteran broadcaster Eamonn Holmes was left “bruised, sore and a bit embarrassed” after falling off his chair during a live episode of GB News’ breakfast show on Wednesday morning. The 65-year-old presenter was co-hosting alongside Ellie Costello when the mishap occurred, briefly disrupting the broadcast and stunning both viewers and studio guests.
Guest commentator Charlie Rowley, who was also present on set, appeared visibly surprised as the incident unfolded. Cameras quickly cut away from the studio, giving Holmes a moment to recover. Attempting to lighten the mood, Holmes later jokingly blamed the fall on the “wonky wheels” and “slippery” chairs used during the program.
Despite the unsettling moment, Holmes has received an outpouring of support from his colleagues and management at GB News. A source close to the channel shared with The Daily Mail, “Everyone at GB News is rallying around Eamonn. He’s had a horrendous couple of years, but he has the full support of the channel and all of his colleagues. Eamonn remains a massive part of the channel’s future and is adored by viewers and his co-presenters alike.”
The fall marks another physical setback for Holmes, who has been dealing with persistent health issues over the past several years. He has undergone double hip replacement surgery, suffered from slipped discs, and continues to battle spinal problems that significantly affect his mobility. Just two weeks prior to the on-air accident, Holmes was reportedly hospitalized following a fall at home.
Speaking about the incident, Holmes admitted, “It was a bit of a shock… I’m sore. Really sore.” He went on to reveal that the fall had aggravated the same area of his neck and back injured during his earlier mishap.
Later that same day, Holmes appeared visibly emotional during a podcast conversation with former boxer Barry McGuigan. The interview took a poignant turn as the two men reflected on the personal losses of their fathers, offering listeners a raw and heartfelt glimpse into their shared experiences of grief.
Holmes’ resilience in the face of ongoing health challenges continues to resonate with fans and colleagues alike. His presence on GB News remains strong, with unwavering backing from the network and his dedicated audience. Despite the physical and emotional toll, Holmes’ commitment to broadcasting remains unshaken.
