ITV’s Good Morning Britain Interrupted for Urgent ‘Breaking News’ Announcement
Good Morning Britain was suddenly interrupted on Monday morning (June 2) for breaking news coverage of a horrifying terror attack in Boulder, Colorado. Presenters Ed Balls and Susanna Reid were hosting the live broadcast when anchor Marverine Cole stepped in to deliver the urgent update.
The shocking incident took place Sunday afternoon during a peaceful rally in support of Israeli hostages. According to early reports, Mohamed Sabry Soliman unleashed a “makeshift flamethrower” and hurled an “incendiary device” into the assembled crowd, injuring six people between the ages of 67 and 88. The FBI has since confirmed that the attack is being treated as an act of terrorism.
As Cole began reporting the developing story, viewers saw a “breaking news” banner flash across the screen. “A man has been arrested following an attack that left six people with burns in the US city of Boulder, Colorado overnight,” she announced.
“People had gathered for a rally in support of Israeli hostages when the suspect threw firebombs into the crowd, according to the FBI.” Footage from a press briefing soon followed, during which FBI special agent Mark Michalek provided further details, reports the Express.
“This attack happened at a regularly scheduled, peaceful event,” said Michalek. “Witnesses are reporting that the subject used a makeshift flamethrower and threw the incendiary device into the crowd.” He added: “The suspect was heard to yell ‘Free Palestine’ during the attack.”
District Attorney Michael Dougherty also addressed the media, confirming the investigation is ongoing and outlining the next steps in the legal process. “In the coming days, decisions will be made about what charges to file and where,” he said. “There’s a couple of different options. But what I would stress now is that we are fully united 100% in making sure the charges we bring hold the attacker fully accountable.”
The violent nature of the incident prompted swift reaction on social media, particularly from Israeli officials. Israeli Ambassador to the UN, Danny Danon, condemned the attack in a strongly worded statement posted online.
“Terrorism against Jews does not stop at the Gaza border—it is already burning the streets of America,” Danon wrote. “Today, in Boulder, Colorado, Jewish people marched with a moral and humane demand: to return the hostages.”
He continued: “In response, the Jewish protesters were brutally attacked, with an attacker throwing a Molotov cocktail at them. Make no mistake—this is not a political protest, this is terrorism. The time for statements is over. It is time for concrete action to be taken against the instigators wherever they may be.”
As the investigation unfolds, authorities in Boulder and beyond are bracing for further developments.
