Meghan Markle Called Cringe Candiace Dillard Fires Back Hard

Meghan Markle just reminded everyone that she’s not afraid to shake things up—even from a hospital bed. In a bold and unexpected post marking Princess Lilibet’s fourth birthday, the Duchess of Sussex dropped a throwback video of herself dancing with Prince Harry before giving birth, and the internet definitely had thoughts.

In the clip, Meghan is seen grooving to Starrkeisha’s viral TikTok hit The Baby Momma Dance while in her hospital room, with Harry joining in on the fun. It was all lighthearted and playful, but the reaction online quickly turned divided.

Alongside the now-viral video, Meghan wrote, “Four years ago today, this also happened. Both of our children were a week past their due dates… so when spicy food, all that walking, and acupuncture didn’t work – there was only one thing left to do!”

While some fans found the video relatable and adorable, others weren’t so impressed. The backlash kicked off fast, with critics on social media slamming the dance as awkward or fake. Some even questioned the authenticity of her pregnancy, calling the video “cringe” and accusing her of staging the moment.

One particularly harsh comment, which was reposted widely, read, “No woman 9 months pregnant moves that way. And that belly is lumpy and Meg moves it around like a sack of jelly beans.”

But Meghan didn’t have to defend herself—American TV star and singer Candiace Dillard stepped in and had her back. Dillard reposted that message and responded with a fiery takedown of the criticism, calling it what it was.

“Where is the uncomfortable mom-to-be? Because this woman has no clue what it feels like to be in labour or even induced. Induced moms are nervous about the pain!” Dillard wrote in her response.

She didn’t stop there. In defense of Meghan’s physical abilities and confidence, Dillard added, “Actually, at 9 months pregnant, I was leg pressing three times my weight, doing pull-ups twice my weight and walking several miles on a treadmill so st** and just say you hate that a Black woman married a white prince.”

Candiace’s comments touched off a wave of support for Meghan from fans who praised her for embracing joy in motherhood and clapping back at a culture that often nitpicks everything she does. The backlash also reignited conversations about “misogynoir,” a term describing the unique discrimination faced by Black women that mixes racism and sexism.

Though Meghan has remained silent in the wake of the uproar, her supporters say the video wasn’t just a celebration—it was a moment of levity that highlighted her playful side and the couple’s joy around welcoming their daughter.

With Meghan stepping up to share personal moments like this and strong voices like Candiace Dillard defending her corner, it’s clear that even the harshest critics aren’t slowing her down.

Whether you found the video charming or not your thing, it’s hard to deny Meghan Markle knows how to keep people talking. And this time, she did it with a smile, a dance, and a little birthday nostalgia.
