Good Morning Britain Presenter Reassures Viewers After Loud Bangs Interrupt Live Broadcast
Things got unexpectedly tense on Good Morning Britain as Ranvir Singh had to quickly calm viewer nerves during a live report from Los Angeles. The popular ITV morning show was waking up the UK with breaking international headlines when the situation in the studio took a bit of a dramatic turn.
Ranvir, 47, was in the studio with Richard Madeley and Susanna Reid, going through the latest global developments. The trio had just introduced live coverage from LA, where demonstrations had erupted once again over immigration raids. Protesters had taken to the streets for a third consecutive day, facing off with local law enforcement in a standoff that was clearly intensifying, reported the Manchester Evening News.
Viewers were suddenly drawn into the thick of it when ITV’s North America Correspondent, Noel Phillips, reported live from the ground. In the middle of his segment, loud bangs rang out behind him, instantly sparking concern.
“As you can see, police are now trying to get these protesters off the streets, Ranvir. We’re going to try and bring you more a little later on,” Noel said, maintaining his composure despite the chaos unfolding behind him.
Back in the studio, Ranvir jumped in to explain what was really going on, clearly aware that the sounds could have alarmed viewers watching at home. “And just to be clear, my producer was telling me that was fireworks because of course there’s several cameras there,” she said, trying to keep things calm. “Just wanted to make that clear for you because obviously it’s alarming to hear that kind of sound.”
Susanna then checked in with Noel during another live cross to make sure he was okay. He confirmed he was fine and continued with his report, offering a clearer picture of the protests and their causes. Throughout the coverage, both Richard and Susanna reminded him to “stay safe” as he navigated the unrest on the ground.
The gripping moment was a real reminder of how unpredictable live news can be, and Ranvir’s quick thinking helped reassure viewers who might have thought they were hearing something far more serious.
As if the morning hadn’t already delivered enough drama, Richard Madeley casually revealed he’d injured himself while away in France. Susanna spotted the cast on his wrist and asked what had happened.
“Yeah, it’s a double fracture of the wrist,” Richard replied, almost cheerfully. “I was walking quite quickly down a steep pavement in France, actually, on Friday. The pavement was loose and it flipped up and it flipped me forward, and I thought, ‘Am I gonna win or is gravity gonna win?’ And gravity won, and I hit the ground hard. So yeah, I’ve got a double fracture and we’ll see how it goes.”
Susanna winced and said it looked sore, but Richard seemed to be taking it all in stride — even as he sat next to his co-hosts with both wrists clearly bandaged.
It was a morning full of surprises, from live scenes of civil unrest in the US to unexpected injuries in the south of France. Just another day on Good Morning Britain.
