Lara Trump incorrectly says that Donald Trump had ‘every authority’ to take documents from the White House

Lara, the daughter-in-law of former president Donald Trump, spoke on Tucker Carlson. She discussed the FBI raid on her father-in-law’s Florida residence at his Mar-a-Lago resort tonight, Monday, with guest presenter Will Cain.

The FBI was looking for highly confidential info the former president took with him when he left the White House.

“Have you spoken to the former president?” Cain asked. “How is he doing? What is the attitude of the family?” “I have spoken to my father-in-law,” Trump answered, “and I gotta tell you, you know, he’s as shocked as anybody.”

According to AOL despite Mrs. Trump’s claim of cooperation, the National Archives only recovered 15 boxes of records from Mar-a-Lago in February.

The former president had removed more than that. In the months since those 15 boxes were located, investigators have visited Mar-a-Lago in an effort to obtain the other materials.

“The bottom line here is that these documents that have been in question have been — everybody’s been cooperating,” Trump said. “Everybody from my father-in-law’s team has been cooperating with the FBI, with any authority that asks for anything up until now.”

Later, Mrs. Trump made the incorrect claim that the former president had the power to take the classified info to his home. He violated the Presidential Records Act, which was put into place as a result of the Watergate scandal involving Nixon.

“My father-in-law, as anybody knows who’s been around him a lot, loves to save things like newspaper clippings, magazine clippings, photographs, documents that he had every authority, Will, to take from the White House, ”Trump said. “And again, he’s been cooperating every single step of the way.”
