Trump ‘Induced Murderous Rage’ In Insurrection Mob: It was “as dark as it gets”

They were ready to “tear Pence limb from limb.” It was “as dark as it gets,” says former Deputy Assistant Attorney General Harry Litman.

Donald Trump “induced a murderous rage” in the crowd that stormed the Capitol during the insurrection last year, according to a former Justice Department official, putting former Vice President Mike Pence’s life in danger.

Former Deputy Assistant Attorney General Harry Litman said on MSNBC Saturday that the mob was ready to “tear Pence limb from limb.” It was “as dark as it gets,” Litman claimed, describing it as a “set up” by Trump.

On Jan. 6, 2021, Litman reacted strongly to a disturbing video of Trump fans in which one can be heard screaming, “Pence just caved,” before adding, “we’re going to drag motherf**kers through the streets.”

According to Litman, Trump already knew at the time that Pence had resolved not to help him overturn the 2020 election. Despite this, Trump warned his supporters before assaulting the Capitol that Pence might be pressured into rejecting the electoral votes, Huff Post reported.

“Trump goes out to the crowd and pretends … it’s all up to Pence,” Litman emphasized. “He knows that Pence has already decided, but keeping it open like that is designed to induce the murderous rage in the crowd when they do find out,” Litman added.

The audience got “absolutely inflamed” when Trump’s supporters heard that Pence would not reject the electoral votes cast for Joe Biden in critical states.

“We have a testimony … that it was no joke,” Litman said, referring to the hearings of the House select committee investigating the insurrection. “They were ready to tear him [Pence] limb from limb. So Trump plays this dishonestly in such a way to rev the crowd up to its maximum level of violence. Really sinister,” he added.
