28-Year-Old British Mother Dies on Holiday as Family Receives Unexpected Autopsy Results
The devastated family of 28-year-old British mother Beth Martin, who died suddenly while on holiday in Turkey, has been left reeling after a shocking revelation during her UK autopsy: her heart had been removed without their knowledge or consent.
Beth, a mother-of-two from Portsmouth, became “delirious” just one day into a family trip to Turkey with her husband Luke and their children, aged five and eight. She was rushed to a local hospital on April 28, where she was placed in critical care. Tragically, she died just 24 hours later.
Now, her grieving husband and relatives are demanding answers—not only about the cause of her sudden illness and death, but also about the unexplained removal of her heart.
According to the family, Beth fell ill shortly after landing. Luke, alarmed by her condition, called an ambulance the next day. He described the hospital she was taken to as “destitute” and claimed he was “banned” from seeing his wife during her final hours, told Daily Mail.
Luke said he was kept in the dark about her condition and even accused by Turkish authorities of poisoning her—an accusation from which he was later cleared. The hospital where Beth was treated is now under investigation for possible medical negligence.
The family’s anguish deepened when her body was returned to the UK. A British post-mortem revealed that Beth’s heart was missing, with no explanation provided by the Turkish hospital.

In a statement on a GoFundMe page created to support the family’s legal and repatriation costs, the family said: “The UK autopsy began. And then the final blow: Beth’s heart was missing. The Turkish hospital has removed it. No explanation. No consent. They have invaded her body and they have TAKEN her heart.”
The family described their ordeal as “the deepest level of trauma” and expressed their determination to uncover the truth. “After everything the family have been through—Luke believes passionately that this is something that cannot be taken lying down,” the fundraiser added.
Luke shared an emotional tribute on social media: “Two weeks ago me, my wife, and two kids set out for a family holiday to Turkey. Only three of us made it back. I lost my wife, my children lost their mum, we lost the biggest piece of the puzzle that was our family.”
He continued: “It has been the worst and most traumatic week of my entire life. I stayed in Turkey another two days to ensure she was brought back. Knowing my wife was still on my flight but I couldn’t be next to her broke me even more.”
Luke has reportedly spent thousands of pounds to bring Beth’s body home to the UK and is now pressing for a full investigation into her death and the removal of her heart.
