Teen Dies After Beach Fight in Ayrshire as Heartbroken Dad Speaks Out
A 16-year-old boy has tragically died after a reported disturbance on Irvine beach in Ayrshire, and his devastated father says he’s lost “my everything.”
Kayden Moy, from East Kilbride, was seriously injured during the incident on Saturday evening. Despite being given medical attention at the scene and rushed to the hospital, he sadly passed away on Sunday, according to Police Scotland. BBC reported the news following the official police announcement.
A 17-year-old boy has been arrested in connection with the incident, but police are still working to understand exactly what happened.
Kayden’s father, Paul Moy, posted a heartbreaking tribute to his son on Facebook. “My first born son my big boy my best friend my main man my everything,” he wrote. “Rest easy my boy.”

Detectives say they believe several people were on the beach when the fight broke out and that some of them may have filmed the incident. They’re urging anyone with footage to come forward, as it could help piece together the moments leading up to Kayden’s fatal injuries.
Detective Chief Inspector Campbell Jackson said police are carrying out an “extensive investigation” and supporting the boy’s family during what he called an “incredibly difficult and heartbreaking time.”
“From our investigation so far, we know there were some people on the beach around the time of the disturbance. We believe several of them were filming at the time and may have footage of what happened,” he said. “I would urge people to review the footage they have and contact police if they think the footage captured could be of significance to our investigation.”
Police were first called to the beach around 6:45pm on Saturday following reports of a disturbance, where they found Kayden with serious injuries.
Superintendent Jim McMillan reassured the local community that police are doing all they can to find out who was involved and bring them to justice. “We understand this death will be of great concern for the local community, but please be assured that we are doing everything we can,” he said.
There will be increased police patrols in the area as investigations continue, and officers are encouraging anyone with worries or information to speak with them directly.
Detectives have also launched an online portal where members of the public can submit information or videos related to the incident. Submissions can be made anonymously if preferred.
As the investigation unfolds, Kayden’s family and the local community are left grieving a young life lost far too soon.
